Lynmouth Studio

This is the new studio...the shed!!

A little about how my beads are made and the process i go through!

All My beads are made using Soft glass, you can use a hard glass but thats another story, i use mainly Effetre & Ask, DH, Vetrofond and Lauscha.
Glass seems to have it's own personality, each color reacting on it's own and with other glass colors and types! Sometimes it just doesn't work the way you wanted it to.
Each bead starts out being melted onto a stainless rod coated with a bead separator that allows the beads to be removed when they are cool. It starts with a very basic round shape and then the possibilities are endless!
The beads are cooled very slowly in the kiln overnight. This ensures that the beads are very strong & durable
All the beads are cleaned with a dremmel tool & a diamond reamer, this gets most of the bead release out of the hole, but if you find a bit of powder in the bead it's normal, it's most likely the bead separator.
For more information on this process or to learn about how to get started yourself please contact me!
